And three more sympathy cards

Three more using the same sentiment but a different cuttlebug folder.

A few more sympathy cards

A few more sympathy cards. These each use a different cuttlebug folder with the same sentiment.

Sympathy Cards

So, I decided to make a few sympathy cards to have on hand (or to just give away) as it is always too hard to make them when I really need them.

CCC09-February - Option #2 - Take #2

Same idea as the previous post, but this is the light side of the paper with a different folder. Did two of these as well, one dark side, one light. It's like Star Wars - with paper.

CCC09-February - Option #2

And this is the second style for my February 2009 Christmas cards. I did two of these. One on the dark side of the paper, one on the light side. Used the cuttlebug snowflakes folder and a cuttlebug snowman die cut. Sentiment is CTMH popped up on dots. Sanded the embossed snowflakes so they would pop.

CCC09-February - Option #1

So....I have completed my ten cards for the CCC09 - February challenge. I made six of these cards. Pretty much identical except that I changed the ribbon on each of them. The card was cased from http://www.embellish-online.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2720&cat=501

It is so tempting to make ALL of my Christmas cards like this one. Wouldn't that make life easy?

Tree is cuttlebugged. Sentiment is CTMH popped up on dots.

No Peeking Jenn! - Not until Sunday

Okay so first of all....If your name is Jenn McMillan.....back out of this post! Scroll no further! Come back AFTER February 28th! Tee hee hee!

So what was that warning all about? Jenn and Brooks are adopting a new kitty today and I will be visiting tomorrow with this card to welcome the newest member of the extended family. He's a marble bengal and I was thinking the image on this stamp might kind of look like him a little.

I used the sketch SASSC1 from Stamps and Smiles located right here http://stampsandsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/02/welcome-to-stamps-and-smiles-first.html for this card. I switched it up a little as my oval nesties are having a little sleepover at Jenn's right now. I thought about doing the panel with some of the other nesties but thought that this looked just fine.

the colours look a little more muted in the photo than in real life but the paper is rather muted in real life too.

Anyways, I like it and I hope Jenn and Brooks do to!

SASSC2 - Happy Birthday

For this card (for my Uncle's birthday on March 12), I used the SASSC2 card sketch over at Stamps and Smiles here: http://stampsandsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/02/stamps-and-smiles-day-2-sneak-peek.html

The paper is (yet again) from CTMH. I thought the card needed a little something extra so I went a little nutty with the stickles on the stars....ALL the stars...

SASSC4 - Happy Birthday

I used the sketch SASSC4 over at Stamps and Smiles located here http://stampsandsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/02/stamps-and-smiles-day-4-sneak-peek.html
for this card for my dearly beloved's brother.

The paper is all CTMH. The panel is of course cuttlebugged. I find masculine birthday cards SO hard to make....no scallops...no frou-frou ribbon or embellies....grrr. But this paper from CTMH is just PERFECT for guy cards. I think I may have to get me some more as I can see going through this VERY quickly in the next month since March is a guy birthday month in our families!

SASSC3 - Happy Birthday To Leap Baby Uncle

I made this card for my Uncle who is a leap baby. Yup, his birthday is on February 29th. It uses the SASSC3 sketch from Stamps and Smiles. You can find it here http://stampsandsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/02/stamps-and-smiles-day-3-sneak-peek.html

I used my small and large label nestabilities for the centre panel. My circle nestabilities for the birthday sentiment. And finally.....a cuttlebug die cut for the lattice strip.

Very simple ... which is where I usually tend to go for masculine cards. Recognize the paper? A few posts back it was used on another card!

Another share

So this isn't a card share, obviously, but something I came across today on lifehacker.

http://lifehacker.com/5158919/declutter-your-home-with-a-detailed-inventory

on it there is a link to a free downloadable software for windows or mac for creating a detailed home inventory. The objective is that once you do the inventory, you will want to declutter. hmmmm...and I was thinking it would come in handy for inventorying my craft room....declutter? That would mean getting rid of some goodies. I think not!

VLVFeb04 - Verve Challenge on SCS

My final card for the Viva La Verve challenge on SCS for February. This {twist} involved using acetate somehow in the card. In my case, I used it as the card base. My dearly beloved thinks more cards need to use acetate - or at least that's what he said when he saw this card.

I'm loving this CTMH paper pack. Perfect for cards for guys or kids. This one goes to my kid brother who celebrates his birthday in early March. Unfortunately, he left to go to sea today so he won't get to see this until he gets back home 40 days from now. I wish him a safe trip.

VLVFeb03 - Verve Challenge on SCS

So the {twist} on this Verve challenge was to remain monochromatic. I tried - I used black, silver and white. I got to use some lovely papers that a dear friend gave me for Christmas AND a Martha Stewart dimensional flower I picked up MONTHS ago at an extreme discount. I took it apart to ink the edges and I think it fits the card quite nicely. I have five more of these flowers, plus six in a pretty coral/pink shade. I think I have some inspiration for a few more thank you, birthday and anniversary cards.......

VLVFeb02 - Verve Challenge on SCS

So this card was made for the VLVFeb02 challenge over on SCS. The {twist} on the challenge was no DP!...So hard for me as I LOVE my DP!!!! So out came the cuttlebug for the circle and my new CTMH intrinsic background stamp for the white panel. I think the card came out purdy enough...mmmmm purdy.....must go eat me a hedgehog.

Sidebar: Purdy's Chocolate's is a Vancouver, BC, Canada company that's makes these delectable chocolates called hedgehogs. When my dearly beloved had to go there in January I gave him directions to the closest Purdy's to his hotel so he could bring me some....and some candied ginger.)

Back to the card: this will go to my dearly beloved's step-mother for her birthday next week. I hope she doesn't follow my blog and get tipped off about her card.

VLVFeb01 - Verve Challenge on SCS

So I saw a post today on one of the blogs I follow regarding the Viva La Verve Challenge for February. Perfect timing as I have a few cards left to make for February and March.

This was for VLVFeb01 - the {twist} was to use embossing. So I embossed the gold panel. This card will go to my dearly beloved's Dad for his birthday. It was today. Hopefully we will see him soon to give this too him!

Same stamp - different Card SCS 216

So...another co-worker birthday card. This time I went a little funky on the colours - but they WERE selected from the colours in the strip of blue. And the problem of colouring the little guy was resolved by using chalk...ah ha!!

The sketch was from SCS 216 over on splitcoast stampers.

A Quick make - loose interpretation of CPS103

The above card was a very quick make and thus a very loose interpretation of the CPS 103 sketch this week seen here http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2009/02/cps103-part-1.html We were going to the birthday brunch on sunday and I had about 15 minutes in which to make the card. Don't ask....I can be a bit of a procrastinator.

I've had this birthday stamp set from inkadinkado for a while and am just getting around to using the stamps. This one is by far my favourite. I tried colouring in the little guy but the colours just weren't working with the paper I used as the background. So...I restamped him and just added a dot of red to the cherry......mmmmmm cupcakes. There are 24 of them in the kitchen now. They will be going to work tomorrow to celebrate a co-worker's birthday.

I'm about to go make another card using this little guy, for said co-worker's birthday. Maybe the next one will actually be coloured!

coolest tool EVER - well at least for today

No card to share today - I did make one and photograph but did not have a chance to upload the photo. But I came across the coolest thing EVER via lifehacker.

The article on lifehacker can be found here.....

http://lifehacker.com/5153828/create-a-color-palette-from-a-single-image

It's a colour palette generator. It's online, nothing to download. You just upload a photo (or link to a url) and bang!......A colour palette is generated from the colours in the image. How COOL! is that! You can find it at this address http://www.cssdrive.com/imagepalette/

I can see endless possibilities for this -- decorating, card-making, scrapbooking.

the image must be less than 1mb. I tried it out with this photo some of last years lilies

And was most impressed by what I saw appear on my screen. I wish I could figure out how to post it here...but it gives me the option of saving the palette as a .css or .aco file which I have no idea how to imbed here so that you could actually see the colour palette. Anyways, very cool, check it out.

My Dearly Beloved's Valentine

So this is the card I made for my dearly beloved. I CASEd this card http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1234227 on SplitcoastStampers.

I omitted the bow underneath the panel. I did have one on there but took it off as it just made the card too busy for me. The hearts are each stamped twice and layered with pop-dots. Tulip on blush and cocoa on chocolate. I think it works well. The paper is all CTMH, as are the stamps and ink.

Another cupcake birthday

I love my cupcake stamps. They are perfect for birthdays. For this one I used CPS102 from http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/. I changed it just a little by using two cupcakes on the left instead of just one .....one just didn't seem to be enough.

I puffed up the frosting (liquid applique) and then used my candy cane stickles to decorate. Packet tried to sabotage the frosting while it was drying.....he was scolded. The large pink panel is from a fiskars texture plate run through the cuttlebug. The sentiment panel was scalloped using a corner rounder.

This card is headed to my brother's spouse who celebrates her birthday on February 16th.

Valentine Cards for my nieces and nephew.

And these cards are for my nieces and nephew.

Lily the fairy for my youngest niece.

This cute lion for my nephew.

Alice Anya for my middle niece.

And this one for my eldest niece. Since she is a teenager now, we can't have it too cutesy!

Again, fun with the new CTMH papers!

Family Valentine Cards

So, after getting through the hurdle of making the Henry card, I spent Sunday making Valentine's Day cards for my family.

The first is for my parents.

This one is for my sister.

And this one is for my brother and his spouse.

I think they came out fairly well. I used my new CTMH papers!!! YAY!

In memory of Henry the cat

This is the card I finally steeled myself to make, in memory of little Henry the cat. Some more tears were shed but I had to put into words our sympathies.

A really dry spell for card-making

So, I thought wintereenmas would see me hunkered down in the craft room churning out cards galore. Well, I lost my mojo it seems.

First of all, the very first card I have to make is a very sad card. I have attempted a few times to settle in to make it but can't seem to without welling up with tears. A beloved furry extended family member passed away a couple of weeks ago, due to a very unfortunate accident and it breaks my heart every time I think about it. But, I do wish to pass along our sincere sympathies so, it must be done. I probably should make a few more sympathy cards as the grandma of a friend of ours just passed and the father of another friend is rather ill as well. So, even though it is a less than pleasant task, I should probably get around to making those.

And secondly, wintereenmas week unfortunately corresponded with my dearly beloved attending a course for work. Due to the $%@#%@ transit strike, he continued to go to work at our usual time but wasn't getting home until after 6:00pm. So, by the time we settled up after dinner, I wasn't in a crafting mood. Now, given that I took most of the week off, one would think that my days would be spent crafting. Well, they were, just not paper-crafting.

The third culprit was "quiltzilla". The quilt I started in August of 2007....that's not a typo....2007 for my brother and his girlfriend is finally approaching completion. The quilting mojo was in full force....leaving no room for paper-crafting mojo. hmmm....I'm betting that's what happened to my scrabble mojo as well (I've been sucking at scrabble on facebook my last couple of games). Not like me at all. I usually kick some mean bum!

But,quiltzilla is nearly complete....the outer border has 6 out of 32 quilting lines left to be sewn. Then the binding. If I am a diligent little quilter then I could finish it this coming weekend. But in all likelihood it will take me another weekend on top of that to finish it.

So....my big plans to do all sorts of cute valentine cards and treat holders may not come to fruition.

Good news is that I got goodies today from one of my favourite online stores http://www.paperworksco.com/ If you have never been you should totally check it out. This site was Peggy's term project! Awesome!!!!!! New nesties for me....yay!

And my February CTMH order was just placed as well (I'm planning to do a 40th anniversary scrapbook for my folks so I'm starting to stock up on my supplies now!) at my SIL Jenn's site http://jennmcmillan.myctmh.com/ She is such a talented "artiste". Check out her blog at http://jennmcmillan.blogspot.com/ She also has a link to her shophandmade.com store. Cards, Jewelry....cool stuff!

Ah well, time to go.....cute kitties are calling. Big Poo (aka Packet) is sleeping on the back of the couch, little New (Newton) is curled up like the little prince he is on a pillow next to me on the couch. His little (well big) white belly is just screaming "scratch me"! I swear he is smiling at me in his sleep.

hopefully I will be back soon with something creative, maybe using the new valentine digi-stamp from TheGreetingFarm.com and my pretty papers from my January CTMH order.
