Viva La Verve October 2012 Week 4

Hi folks,

back again with two more thank you cards, this time using the Week 4 Sketch for the October Viva La Verve challenges

Here's the sketch:

and here are my two cards:

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Close To My Heart "Olivia", edges inked with Memento Rich Cocoa
  • stamps: Verve "With Love"
  • Spellbinders: Petite Circles
  • half-back pearls from my stash

Hope you all have a wonderful Hallowe'en! And no, this isn't a scheduled post. I really am up at 3am - patiently awaiting my turn to do some work in the middle of the night. Yawn. It has been a long day and it isn't over yet. And what makes it worse is that tomorrow is supposed to start for me in less than two hours!

Thanks for stopping by! Yawn.

Viva La Verve October 2012 Week 3

Hi folks,

back again with two more thank you cards, this time using the Week 3 Sketch for the October Viva La Verve challenges

Once again, I made two thank you cards:

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Close To My Heart "Olivia"
  • stamps: Verve "Happy Hello"
  • Spellbinders: Labels Four
  • Twill tape and seam binding from my stash
additional challenges for these cards:
As always, thanks for stopping by!

By the way, are you ready for Hallowe'en yet? We still have our pumpkins to carve. We always wait until the night before Hallowe'en to carve them and this year we have twenty pumpkins. I'm not sure if they are all going to get carved tonight though. I'm about to put in my regular full day of work and then tonight at midnight I have to work again so I SHOULD try to get some sleep before midnight. Not sure that's going to happen though. I get the feeling I won't NEED makeup or a costume to make me look like death warmed over on Hallowe'en!

Viva La Verve October 2012 Week 2

Hi folks,

back again with two more thank you cards, still using the CTMH "Olivia" papers and this time using the Week 2 Sketch for the October Viva La Verve challenges

Here's the sketch:

and my cards:

As you can see, I replaced the flower elements in the sketch with three leaf die cuts and put them into a tighter cluster. I thought the leaf die cut was a perfect match with these autumnal papers.

Viva La Verve October 2012 Week 1

Hi folks,

On October 13th I took part in the annual Light the Night charity walk for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society of Canada. Some of you may know that my Mom was diagnosed in the summer of 2011 with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments since then to keep the disease in check. Last year, when one of my former co-workers asked if I was interested in joining her team (her son is a survivor) I was more than happy to walk along.

This year, we had an incredible outpouring of support for our fund-raising efforts. Our team raised over $2700 in just one week. I was fortunate to raise just over $1300 of that myself.

I wanted to say Thank You to my family, friends and coworkers for their support so, at the Pajama Crop back on October 12th, I brought along the Viva La Verve sketches that have been released so far to start making some thank you cards - notice I said start. I just got around to putting the final touches on these cards today.

So, up first, the week 1 sketch.

I was in SUCH a rush getting prepped for the crop, that I left without my 6x6 papers that I had planned to use that night. But, lucky for me, I had not yet unpacked my tote from Crop and Create a couple of weeks previously so I had some 12x12 papers with me to use. This turned out to be a GREAT opportunity to use up some older CTMH "Olivia" papers - beautiful fall coloured papers, great for this time of year.

Of course, I'm doing my usual two cards with the sketch

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Close To My Heart "Olivia", edges distressed with Memento Rich Cocoa
  • stamps: Verve "Treasured Words", "With Love"
  • Spellbinders: Labels One and Labels Four

additional challenges for these cards:

Thanks for stopping by - a little heads up for my usual visitors: my next four posts will be the rest of the Viva La Verve Challenges....all with the same papers you see above. So, things might be looking a little familiar for the next little while.

Verve World Card Making Day Sketch Challenge

Hi folks,

well it has definitely been a busy month for me. So busy that I am just NOW getting around to making a few cards for the Verve World Card Making Day Sketch Challenge

Here's the sketch:

and here are my holiday cards for the challenge! Yep, that's right. Since Verve is giving away their next holiday release to the winner of this challenge, I figured it was high time I got back to making Christmas cards.

So here are three new Christmas cards for this year's much neglected stash. I will really have to get on the ball to get enough finished for this year (see the tally so far on the side-bar. Oops....)

I quite like this layout and, if I can figure out a way to tie a proper bow, I just might make a few more of these with some of my many other Christmas papers (shhh....don't tell but I have picked up four new 6x6 pads in the last two visits to Multi-crafts - this was one of them, plus an Echo Park collection in 12x12)

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base, red card stock accent for the ornament hanger (kind of hidden by the ribbon)
  • patterned papers: Fancy Pants Designs "Winterland"
  • stamps: Verve "Ornamental Christmas"
  • buttons are Basic Grey from my stash
  • satin ribbons and baker's twine from my stash

United Way Pajama Crop Card Challenge

Hi folks!

Busy! Busy! Busy! That seems to be me these days. I think I have about 7 or 8 cards waiting to be posted. Hopefully with having this week off I will actually have the time to do that!

This is one of those cards - I made this card a couple of weekends ago and the Algonquin College Pajama crop for the United Way but am just now getting around to posting it.

I quite like this card - it may be hard to give it away!

Birthday Wishes - SCRSC90

Hi folks,

I made time for me this weekend - an out of the house crafty day since I never seem to make it into my craft room when I plan to these days. I actually finished three cards - all with colouring on them, not just stamping!

Anyways, there's a few birthdays left to go in October and this is a card I made for one of them!

Doesn't Emily look stylish as she shops for all the greatest fashions (and hopefully bargains!)?

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 169

Hi folks,

I'm still crazy busy but I am finally getting around to posting this card that I made for my sister for her birthday. She joined the over 40 club on October 7th but her card didn't reach her until this past Friday....I was a little late.

Mojo Monday 262

Hi folks,

long time no post! Believe it or not I HAVE been crafting but I just haven't had the time to post anything until today. I've been busy every night baking for a week long bake-sale I did every day at work as part of my fund-raising for the Light the Night Walk in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Anyways, the walk is tonight and I finally have a chance to sit down and post a few creations.

This card was made for a member of my weight loss group who is leaving the group because she is moving to a different area of the city and the commute would just be too long for her. We did a little collection for her and I volunteered to make a little card in which to put it.

PaperTake Weekly Challenge

Hi folks,

back with another card that I made during Crop & Create Ottawa. I had a REALLY big list of cards to work on ... stamped a bunch of images, got all of them partially coloured (skin and hair) but actually only finished two. The two for our nephews!

Up first is the card I made for dearly beloved's youngest nephew. His birthday was October 3rd and we should be seeing him this weekend at the family Thanksgiving get-together.

As our nephews get a little older (Lucas is celebrating his 6th this year), I find that I really like the boy images from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps for their cards.

Mojo 260 - Crop & Create

Hi folks,

well I am still recovering from my busy weekend at Crop & Create Ottawa - finally made it into the craft room to photograph the cards I made between my classes.

This one was actually made for one of the Crop & Create Challenges - the card challenge "Hello There". We were to use 4 patterned papers, 3 flower elements, 2 buttons and 1 sentiment. Bonus points for finishing the inside as well.

I used the Mojo Monday 260 sketch but sadly missed the posting deadline as I was quite tired on Sunday and didn't get the card photographed in time.

Here's the sketch:

and here's the card:

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Authentique Journey from one of my PaperCard kits from PaperWorksCo. edges distressed with Memento Rich Cocoa
  • stamps: Verve "Beautiful You" (outside), "Borderline" (inside - I'll take a photo and upload when I get a chance)
Additional challenges for this card:

Hopefully I'll find the time to get the other two cards posted ..... Thanks for stopping by and be sure to link up your creations this week at the {created by you} linky party!
